As Yuletide approaches, the Oyo State government and its counterpart in Ogun State have announced that they have increased security surrounding the two states in response to insecurity.
The statement was issued on Thursday by the Joint Security Commission for the Oyo and Ogun States.
The Commission stated at a meeting on Thursday along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway that it has reinforced security around the two states’ borders to combat instability, particularly during the ember months.
The Commission seized the occasion to reassure residents and motorists of appropriate protection and safety of lives and properties, especially in the border areas and roads of both states during and after the Yuletide season.
Fatai Owoseni, the Special Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on Security, and his counterpart, Olusola Subair, the Special Adviser to Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State on Security, explained that the meeting was necessary to review and harmonize activities, as well as to restructure security measures in place to allow residents and people from the Diaspora to enjoy the Yuletide in peace.
While addressing, the pair urged citizens of both states to be vigilant about security.
They went on to say that everyone must ensure security.
The two insisted that both states’ security services were operational.
