A KwaZulu-Natal is allegedly reported to have attacked a teenager with acid and has been charged to court. The culprit is expected to appear in the KwaDukuza Magistrates Court, in Stanger North of KwaZulu province, South Africa on Wednesday morning, February 22, 2023.
The 18-year-old victim identified as Londi Thabethe Purity, was doused in acid during an argument with the accused’s daughter.
The victim was burnt in the face and upper body and is currently receiving medical care in the hospital.
Meanwhile, outside of the court, a group of protesters gathered singing and chanting ahead of the accused’s appearance. The local police had to close the roads around the court precinct.
Some of the protesters wearing Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and African National Congress (ANC) regalia had also joined school pupils and community members carrying placards demanding justice for the victim.
We do hope the accused is brought to book and justice is duly served.
