You’ve just got your hands on the perfect piece of furniture. It’s stylish, it’s modern, and it’s perfect for your home. But before you can start enjoying your new purchase, you need to take a few minutes to properly maintain it. Furniture is a big investment, and proper maintenance is the key to keeping it in good condition for years to come.

In this post, we’ll give you five rules for keeping your furniture in top condition. Follow these rules and you’ll be able to enjoy your furniture for years to come!

  • Rule #1: DON’T LET YOUR PETS ON THE FURNITURE.

Rule #1 for furniture maintenance is to keep your pets off the furniture. This seems like a no-brainer, but you would be surprised at how many people let their pets jump all over the furniture. Cats especially like to scratch up couches and chairs with their sharp claws.

If you can’t keep your pets off the furniture, at least make sure to give them a scratching post so they can claw at that instead. And if that still doesn’t work, get a dog. Dogs are always happy to jump on furniture (unless it’s covered in plastic – then they just pee on it).

  • Rule #2: VACUUM REGULARLY TO REMOVE DUST AND DIRT.

Rule #2 for furniture care is to vacuum it regularly to remove dust and dirt. This will help to keep your furniture looking nice and new for as long as possible.

It’s important to use a vacuum with a dustbin attached so that you can easily dispose of the dust and dirt you suck up. Alternatively, you could use a shop vac or a wet/dry vac, depending on your preference. But it’s important you vacuum every nook and cranny of your furniture, including under the cushions and in the crevices. And don’t forget to vacuum the floor around your furniture too!

  • Rule #3: USE COASTERS TO PREVENT WATER RINGS.

Rule #3: Use coasters. Do you know what happens when you put a cold, wet drink on a piece of wood? A water ring forms. And if that drink happens to be iced coffee (or any other type of coffee for that matter), the ring will be there for days, maybe even weeks. But it’s not just coffee that can cause water rings – any drink with high levels of sugar or acid can damage your furniture. So the next time you’re reaching for a drink, make sure to place a coaster underneath it to prevent any unsightly damage.

  • Rule #4: AVOID DIRECT SUNLIGHT EXPOSURE.

Rule #4: Avoid Direct Sunlight Exposure. We know the sun is tempting. Who can resist basking in those warm, golden rays? But if you want to keep your furniture in good condition, it’s best to stay out of the sun’s path. That’s because the sun can cause your furniture to fade, warp, and even crack. So unless you want your furniture looking like a sad, wilted flower, it’s best to keep it out of the sun’s reach. The best way to do this is to position your furniture in a shady spot – or if that’s not possible, then cover it up with a cloth when the sun is at its strongest.

  • Rule #5: SPOT CLEAN WHEN THERE’S A SPILL.

Rule #5 is a big one, and it’s one that you’re going to want to remember: when there’s a spill, clean it immediately. Not only will this prevent the spill from spreading, but it will also help to maintain the condition of your furniture. Remember, furniture is a big investment, so you’ll want to take the time to properly care for it. Spills can quickly turn into stains if not addressed in a timely manner, so be sure to keep some cleaning supplies handy at all times. A little bit of effort can go a long way in preserving your furniture’s beauty and functionality.

As long as you follow these simple tips, furniture maintenance will be easy. Also, your furniture will last for years and years – without any hassle! Proper furniture care will not only enhance your finances but also protect your furniture investment.
