Chelsea have won the Women’s Super League for a record-breaking fourth consecutive time after a 3-0 win against Reading. The Chelsea ladies cruised to a comfortable victory as the now-relegated Reading Women were no match for them from the get-go.
Sam Kerr and Guro Reiten delivered the goals for the Blues putting a smile on the faces of the fans where the male side had painted furrows of despair.
Chelsea finish two points above Manchester United, whose 1-0 win over Liverpool was not enough for their first triumph.
That wraps up the season for Chelsea, who end it with a domestic double having won the Women’s FA Cup weeks prior. Following the victory, Hayes praised her squad, thanked the fans and gave credit to the entire staff team around the club.
She said-
“What an unbelievable team I’ve got, lucky me. It was really emotional at the end of the game but I was man-marked by the cameraman so I didn’t get the chance to let loose with a few tears. We are family. These people are as close to me as my family. My entire staff deserve credit and the day as much as anyone.”
It’s the fifth time Hayes’ side has achieved that feat in just nine years.
