5 SIGNS IT’S TIME TO QUIT THAT JOB

As much as we have to keep ourselves busy, either to put food on the table or just because we are passionate about what we do, sometimes we begin to sacrifice too much for that job. These sacrifices that we wouldn’t make under normal circumstances and compromises we wouldn’t be forced into for any other reason. Putting our jobs first is not compulsorily a bad thing and is even necessary sometimes, but knowing where to draw the line in making those sacrifices is key. Oftentimes, people don’t even know they are losing a lot more than they are gaining from a job. And it’s not really that hard to figure out; it’s only that people get comfortable with discomfort. The irony!

Here are 5 signs it’s time to quit that job:

  1. YOUR PERSONAL LIFE SUFFERS SO MUCH BECAUSE OF IT

Signs of this can be as subtle as canceling one too many friend dates, weddings, or something like having no time for even a single hobby. You might not even be working too many hours but you realize that when you get off work, you are too exhausted to do anything else. If you’re not able to distinguish your personal life from work then it’s probably time to leave.

  1. UNHEALTHY COMPETITION

Climbing up ranks can require a lot of work and can be really hard and competitive, but to what lengths would co-workers go to scale up those ranks faster than others? Competition can be very helpful and can boost productivity, but a line is drawn when it becomes too aggressive. Always be careful to make sure also of the kind of relationship that exists among co-workers.

  1. NO SUPPORT FOR GROWTH

The sad reality is that people don’t even know they are not progressing until after too many years. You might find perhaps that you have been doing exactly the same thing over and over for years without any notable change in the impact of your work or even at least a salary increase. You can measure your growth by drawing plans of what you plan to achieve at that particular job and if after some time, you take a step back and look at your plan and discover you have not made any progress, then it’s best to leave.

  1. NO EMPATHY

You might get severely berated for understandably dozing off at a Job you’ve been at for hours on end by your boss without any regard for how you might be feeling at that moment. This just only shows how important you seem and clearly not that important, you need to leave and be where your worth is understood.

  1. DECLINING HEALTH

This is probably the sign you should look out for the most. Nothing comes before protecting your health. You could be putting your mind and body through a lot more stress than you can handle and you are just treating sicknesses that could be completely avoided. Also, try to keep work-related health hazards at a minimum.

Money and your job are important but you are more important. Put yourself first as much as you can. You deserve it.
