205 evacuees from Sudan arrived in the nation, on Friday.
At 12:15 p.m., they landed at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport’s Pilgrims terminal in Abuja.
Following the April crisis, a total of 2,518 stranded Nigerians were evacuated from the nation in May.
The National Emergency Management Agency launched a cleanup effort to bring stranded citizens back home.
On June 24, 2023, the first mop-up evacuation took place, with 125 stranded Nigerians arriving in the nation.
However, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, spokesperson for the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, reported that the 205 refugees included 45 children and 160 adults.
However, according to Balogun, a total of 2,865 evacuees had arrived in the nation.
According to the statement:
“A total of 205 evacuees which comprised 160 adults and 45 minors and infants were received by Federal Government Officials from NIDCOM, NEMA, Refugees Commission, Immigration, FAAN and Ministries of Foreign Affairs as well as Environment.
“As usual, they were profiled, fed, and provided transportation for them especially the majority going to Kano, Katsina, Kaduna, and Borno states.
“To date, a total of 2,865 evacuees have been transported back to Nigeria from the war-torn Sudan.”
