The Supreme Court has set Thursday, October 26, as the day for the delivery of final verdicts in the two remaining cases contesting the validity of President Bola Tinubu’s declaration as the winner of the 2023 presidential election.
They are petitions submitted by Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, and Peter Gregory Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party.
Dr Awemeri Festus Akande, the Supreme Court’s Director of Press and Information, confirmed the development on Wednesday.
He stated that adequate security measures have been put in place to avoid security breaches both inside and outside of the court.
On Monday, a seven-member panel of Justices of the Court chaired by Justice John Inyang Okoro heard closing arguments from attorneys representing petitioners. Following that, the Justices reserved its decisions.
