Abdulrasheed Bawa, the former head of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, was released on Thursday, according to the Department of State Services.
Bawa was released on Wednesday night after being arrested and held by the DSS on June 14, 2023, following an invitation for unclear reasons, after visiting President Bola Tinubu earlier that day.
The DSS’s Director of Public Relations and Strategic Communications, Peter Afunanya, announced Bawa’s release in a message posted on the agency’s official X ((Formerly Twitter)) account.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he said “DSS confirms release of former EFCC chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, a few hours ago, today, Oct. 25.”
