The Nigerian Meteorological Agency, NiMet, forecasts sunlight and dust haze from Wednesday to Friday across the country.
NiMet’s meteorological outlook announced on Tuesday in Abuja predicted significant dust haze in the northern area on Wednesday, with horizontal visibility ranging from 2km to 5km in Zamfara, Katsina, Kano, Sokoto, Kebbi, Jigawa, and Kaduna.
During the forecast period, the agency predicted a minor dust haze across the rest of the region.
During the predicted period, the North Central area will have a small dust haze, whilst the southern region will experience a bright environment with patches of clouds over the inland and coastal towns in the early hours, except for Lagos, where mist is expected.
NiMet said that later in the day, localised thunderstorms with rains are expected over parts of Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Cross River and Akwa Ibom States.
According to NiMet, in the northern region, slight dust haze is expected over the region during the forecast period on Thursday.
It predicted a slight dust haze over the region during the forecast period in the North Central region.
In the southern region, it said a sunny atmosphere with patches of clouds is expected over the Inland and the coastal cities in the morning hours, except for Bayelsa and Delta where mist is expected.
Then later in the day, there are prospects of localised thunderstorms with slight rains over parts of Lagos, Rivers, Delta, Cross River and Akwa Ibom States.
NiMet further anticipated a sunny atmosphere in the northern region during the forecast period on Friday.
According to the agency, a sunny atmosphere with patches of clouds is expected during the forecast period in the North Central region.
In the southern region, a cloudy atmosphere is expected over the inland and the coastal cities in the morning hours.
Later in the day, localised thunderstorms with moderate rain are expected over parts of Edo, Delta, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom States in the afternoon /evening.
The agency advised the public to take necessary precautions as dust particles were in suspension.
It also urged people with Asthmatic health conditions and other respiratory issues to be cautious of the present weather conditions.
Similarly, NiMet advised airline operators to get airport-specific weather reports (flight documentation) from NiMet for effective planning.
