Responsibilities
COMPLIANCE: Preparing and publishing timely monthly financial statements
- Perform bookkeeping duties including maintaining data on financial statements, reviewing bank reconciliations, and more.
- Confirm that books are reconciled with bank statements and prepare all month-end dealership accounting reports.
- Make sure accounts receivable/ accounts payable are processed promptly and properly.
- Oversee automotive group payroll, so employees receive prompt payment.
- Ensure auto dealership transactions are accurately recorded in all general ledgers.
- Actively engage in all loan facilities conversations with a structured and proactive plan.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, especially taxes, so as not to incur fines and closure or obstructions to the business.
- Come with a structured credit facilities arrangement with customers and how to follow through.
- Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
- Manage outsourced functions.
- Oversee the operations of the emerging accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the company’s goals and objectives.
- Ensure that accounts payable are paid promptly.
- Ensure that all reasonable discounts are taken on accounts payable.
- Ensure that accounts receivable is collected promptly.
- Process payroll promptly.
- Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed.
- Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis.
- Maintain the chart of accounts.
- Maintain an orderly accounting filing system.
- Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions.
- Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts.
- Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management.
- Provide a system of management cost reports.
- Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
- Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit. Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants.
- Comply with local, state, and federal government
- Enhances department and compliance.
Qualifications
- BSc/ HND in Accounting, Finance or a related field
- ICAN is essential but not important
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office
- Strong attention to detail and excellent numerical skills
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
