Actor Brian Cox has stirred controversy by criticizing Meghan Markle and calling for the abolition of the monarchy. In an interview with Haute Living New York, the Scottish actor accused the Duchess of marrying into the royal family as part of her lifelong ambitions to find her own fairytale.

Cox, who is known for his role in “Succession,” argued that Meghan was fully aware of the established “system” she became a part of and should not be surprised by the drama she has caused.

Cox, a monarch abolitionist, went on to say that the Sussexes, particularly Meghan, are not as innocent as people believe them to be. He suggested that Meghan clearly had ambitions when she married Prince Harry and that these may have been rooted in childhood fantasies of marrying Prince Charming.

The Emmy-winning actor believes that the drama between Harry, Meghan and the royal family is yet another reason why the monarchy should be abolished.

In my opinion, we shouldn’t have a monarchy,” he said. “It’s not viable; it doesn’t make any sense. F*** it, move on.”

Brian Cox’s comments have sparked debate on social media. Many people disagree with his stance on the monarchy and his criticism of Meghan Markle.
