The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, has reassured residents of Kebbi State that the Nigerian Air Force remains fully committed to safeguarding lives and property across the region.

The assurance came during his operational assessment tour of the state, where he conducted strategic engagements with military commanders, security agency heads, and Governor Mohammed Nasir Idris.

According to Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information for the Nigerian Air Force, the visit included comprehensive inspections of critical military installations and in-depth discussions on enhancing security operations in the North-West zone.

The Air Chief emphasised Kebbi’s strategic importance as a border state neighbouring both Benin and the Niger Republic, noting that its expansive rural landscape requires constant security vigilance.

“What happens in Kebbi has direct implications for the entire North-West region and ultimately impacts national stability,” Air Marshal Abubakar stated. “Our mandate is unequivocal: we will identify and eliminate all criminal elements that threaten the safety of our citizens. A secure Nigeria forms the foundation for meaningful development.”

Governor Idris expressed appreciation for the Nigerian Air Force’s efforts in maintaining relative peace across the state despite growing security challenges in the region. He pledged the state government’s continued support for all security operations, emphasising the importance of inter-agency collaboration in addressing emerging threats.

The visit forms part of the Nigerian Air Force’s ongoing efforts to strengthen operational effectiveness across the country, with particular focus on border states vulnerable to cross-border criminal activities.

Security analysts view the engagement as a timely reinforcement of Nigeria’s counter-insurgency strategy in the North-West region.
