Amanda Bynes Leaves Mental Health Facility, Enters Outpatient Treatment Program

Former child star and American actress, Amanda Bynes has recently checked out of a mental health facility. She had been admitted for treatment for three weeks due to erratic behaviour and a naked stroll around Los Angeles.

According to reports, Bynes left the facility of her own accord after working closely with the staff to determine that she was ready to return to her normal routines. Now, she will be entering an outpatient treatment program to ensure that she continues to make progress while being treated.

Bynes, who is now 37 years old, had been under conservatorship since 2013. However, it ended last year, which gives her more freedom to make her own decisions. It was previously reported that her parents were not considering setting up another conservatorship. Now though, Bynes has been doing relatively well prior to her recent mental health crisis.

Her original conservatorship arrangement began in 2013 after she was involuntarily committed following multiple run-ins with the law in 2012, including two hit-and-runs and a DUI. She was later arrested in 2013 for allegedly throwing a bong out of the window of her 36th-floor apartment in Manhattan.

Bynes was most recently hospitalized after reportedly wandering the streets of Los Angeles for four days straight after her car was towed in Long Beach on March 15. During this period, she was apparently in an unbalanced mental state and spent some time walking around naked.

On the day that she entered the treatment facility, Bynes was reportedly seen walking in the nude.

However, a witness later revealed that the She’s The Man star had flagged down a car to get help. She was apparently cognizant of her mental state. Also, she called 911 to report that she was coming out of a psychotic state and needed assistance.

After she was picked up, Bynes was initially put under a 72-hour psychiatric hold. It was later extended while her team at the mental health facility devised a treatment plan for her.

In the midst of her mental health struggles, Bynes’ parents banned her ex-fiancé, Paul Michael, from having any contact with her after their four-year relationship ended in January of this year. An insider said –

“They do not want her ex-fiancé around her, and he has been instructed to have no contact with her. He does not seem to have her best interests in mind, and her family has nothing good to say about him.”

While speaking to the New York Post, Michael previously claimed that he and Bynes were now “friends.”
