In the aftermath of Manchester United’s disappointing exit from the UEFA Champions League, defender Jonny Evans believes the setback could be a blessing in disguise for manager Erik ten Hag. The Red Devils were eliminated after a 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich in their final group game.

Evans, speaking to TV 4 Play, expressed confidence in Ten Hag’s coaching abilities and suggested that the absence of European competition could provide a silver lining. The defender noted that the break from European football would afford the Dutch tactician time to rejuvenate injured players.

Acknowledging the challenges faced by the team, Evans stated, “He is a fantastic coach and I have no doubts about him. In January, we get a new window and a chance to improve the team. Not playing in Europe will give him more time.”

The Manchester United defender remains optimistic that the team can bounce back, emphasizing the potential return of injured players and the opportunity for improved consistency. The absence of European fixtures will grant Ten Hag the chance to regroup and strengthen the squad during the upcoming transfer window.

Manchester United, having won just one of their six group games, missed the opportunity to drop into the Europa League by finishing third. Evans sees this setback as a catalyst for positive changes and believes it could ultimately benefit the team in the long run.
