Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, recently visited President Bola Tinubu in Lagos, sparking curiosity among political observers.

The visit, which took place on Monday, was described by Fayose as a “courtesy call” aimed at fostering unity and discussing national issues.

In a statement after the meeting, Fayose emphasised that his visit was not politically motivated but rather a gesture of goodwill and solidarity.

He noted that despite belonging to different political parties, it is essential for leaders to engage in constructive dialogue for the progress of Nigeria. “Politics should not divide us; we must work together for the betterment of our country,” Fayose said.

Sources close to the former governor revealed that the discussion also touched on economic challenges and possible solutions to alleviate the hardships faced by Nigerians. Fayose reportedly shared his perspectives on governance and offered suggestions on how the federal government could address pressing national concerns.

Political analysts have interpreted the meeting as a strategic move, given Fayose’s influence in the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Tinubu’s role as the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Some speculate that the visit could signal a potential realignment or collaboration ahead of future elections, though Fayose dismissed such notions, insisting his visit was purely informal.

The former governor also took the opportunity to commend Tinubu for his efforts in addressing Nigeria’s economic challenges, urging citizens to remain patient and supportive. Fayose reiterated the importance of unity, stating that Nigeria’s challenges require collective efforts beyond partisan politics.
