The Gombe state government has pledged to procure 15,000 brand-new motorcycles for distribution to the Commercial Motorcycle Riders Association also known as ‘Achaba operators’ to support and sustain their activities in the state.
This is in addition to his N10M grant previously approved for the association as part of Gombe province’s government intervention under his COVID-19 recovery and economic stimulus package.
Governor Muhammadu Yahaya made the statement at a solidarity rally by members of the Association of Commercial Motorcycle Riders and Owners of the Gombe Chapter held at his APC Square on Sunday.
While commending the long-standing relationship between his administration and the Achaba Riders, the governor promised to cement it “by procuring 15,000 brand new motorcycles for distribution to the commercial Motorcycle Riders Association to support and sustain your activities in the state.”
Yahaya disclosed that he had directed the Commissioner for Finance, Muhammad Magaji, to take necessary action towards speedy procurement of the motorcycles for onward distribution to the members of the association.
“Our administration is always committed towards human capital development,” he said.
