At least 17 people have been arrested by the Gombe State Police Command on suspicion of a variety of offences committed across the state.
This was revealed on Wednesday by ASP. Mahid Muazu Abubakar, the Police Public Relations Officer, on his verified X Twitter.
According to Abubakar, two individuals who were found in possession of a shotgun built locally were apprehended by the police.
One of the suspects admitted to paying 15,000 naira for the gun and giving it to his brother.
The suspect in question was apprehended by the police and is the subject of ongoing investigations.
The PPRO promised that as soon as the police concluded their investigation, the case would be brought before the court.
In another event, seven people were arrested as a consequence of a combined operation conducted by the State Intelligence Bureau (SIB) and Police Operatives from the Kaltungo Division.
During a raid headed by Divisional Police Officer Kaltungo CSP Paul Nuhu Pama, the accused were taken into custody.
Sunday, December 3, 2023, saw the arrest of Ibrahim Usman (19) and Mohammed Suleiman (21), the suspects, during an operation in the criminal hideout at Market Square, Kalaring, and Baganje in Kaltungo Local Government Area.
Among the items found during the raid were Military camouflage, shorts, trousers, and a face cap, 19 blocks of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, 40 sachets of tramadol tablets, 240 sachets of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, One empty shell of AK-47 decorated with charms, two cutlasses, one stick, one dagger, two swords, two calabashes, two knives, one axe, one roll of copper wire, five sachets of exzol tablets, two women wrappers (Turmin Zani).
Other exhibits include one charm vest, assorted charms, 582 pieces of exzol tablets, two cutlasses, and 100 pieces of yellow (D-5) tablets.
The allegations against the accused include possession of dried leaves thought to be Indian hemp, impersonation, and criminal conspiracy.
