Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has announced a special fifty percent discount on fares for the Lagos State Blue Line rail service.

This offer is scheduled for Thursday, September 4, 2025, to celebrate the second anniversary of the rail system’s commercial operations.

The governor reflected on the significant progress made since the Blue Line commenced service on the Marina to Mile 2 route in September 2023.

In an official statement, he highlighted the project’s remarkable safety record, noting that it has successfully transported more than five million passengers without a single accident.

Governor Sanwo-Olu detailed the efficiency of the current operations, with trains now running at ten-minute intervals and completing more than ninety trips every day.

He emphasized that the rail service has transformed previously long and stressful commutes into faster and more convenient journeys for Lagos residents.

The governor described the Blue Line as a powerful symbol of what can be accomplished through dedication and a shared vision for progress. He stated that the project is a collective achievement that belongs to the people of Lagos, made possible by their trust and belief in a greater city.

To encourage more people to experience the service, he invited those who have not yet ridden the Blue Line to take advantage of the discounted fare day and see the results of this collective effort.

Governor Sanwo-Olu also reassured the public of his administration’s continued commitment to developing and expanding infrastructure. The ultimate goal is to make mobility throughout Lagos easier, safer, and significantly faster for everyone.

He concluded by affirming that the government is steadily working, step by step, to create the Lagos that all its residents desire.
