House Majority Leader Alhassan Ado Doguwa was remanded by the Kano High Court on Wednesday. The Federal House of Representative majority leader, along with another suspect, indicted him on five counts of unlawful possession of a weapon, assault, wrongful death and obstruction of public order.

Doguwa was arrested in Tudun, Kano State after he was accused of being the ringleader of thugs who attacked and set fire to the offices of the New Nigerian People’s Party in Wada. Where, two persons were burned to death while the results were being compiled on Sunday, just after the election.

Alhassan was also accused of shooting dead and injuring others during a raid on the NNPP Tudun Wada office.

Judge Ibrahim Yola said he has no authority to review the charges. However, the court ordered the defendant to be remanded to custody.

A credible source to The Punch Ng said Doguwa was arrested by the police while he on his way to board a flight to Saudi Arabia for Lesser Hajjat at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano.
