Abass Akande, the iconic Fuji singer famously called Obesere or Omo Rapala, recently celebrated his 60th birthday, reflecting on a fulfilling life and career.
During an interview with Saturday Beats, the Fuji maestro revealed his gratitude for life’s blessings and his unwavering belief in God’s plan.
There is nothing I wished I had done differently,” Obesere shared. “It’s all God’s plan, and I don’t have any regrets whatsoever. I believe I’m still soaring higher. I have not even started.”
Obesere reflected on his numerous accomplishments, expressing immense pride in his family and career milestones. He highlighted:
- Sponsoring his children’s education abroad.
- Gaining another citizenship overseas.
- Acquiring houses and investments, all of which he attributes to God’s blessings.
There are so many achievements that I can’t even count,” he said. “All I can say is I thank my creator and my star.”
On documenting his journey, Obesere revealed plans for a biography and documentary.
My story is inspiring, and I feel the upcoming generation should learn lessons from it,” he explained. “That’s why one of my houses is boldly named Wisdom Compound. There is so much wisdom in my life’s journey.”
Beyond his personal accomplishments, Obesere gave back to his alma mater in a remarkable way. To commemorate his birthday, he commissioned a newly built mosque at his old secondary school and donated school supplies, including books and bags, to the students.
Sharing the special moment on Instagram, Obesere captioned a video of the event:
To God Be The Glory! Today we commissioned the newly built mosque at my alma mater and also donated learning materials to the pupils. This will continue and won’t stop for a bit.”
