The Kaduna State Government has disclosed that 32,297 cases of Tuberculosis were detected in the state in 2023, but has improved in Tuberculosis case detection, and reduced the risk of spreading the disease.
Umma Kaltume-Ahmed, the State Commissioner for Health, addressed during a news conference to commemorate World Tuberculosis Day in Kaduna on Thursday.
“This represents an increase of 49.8 per cent compared to 2022. This case detection rate represents 159 per cent of the state TB case detection target,” she said.
She noted that the state’s tuberculosis case detection rate has climbed from 21,557 in 2022 to 32,297 in 2023.
She added that the development demonstrated a considerable improvement in case discovery when compared to 53% in 2022, and that it represents better support for the State TB programme from the State Government and development partners.
