At least 30 farmers were reportedly kidnapped by terrorists in the Chikuri community of Kaduna State’s Chikun Local Government Area in the early hours of Saturday.
Dogara Peter, a local who verified the tragic occurrence to Sunday PUNCH on Saturday, claimed his mother and sister were among those killed.
He claims that the victims were kidnapped while working on Maikudi’s plantations.
“Our community has been thrown into confusion as we have yet to establish any contact with the abductors. We want the security and the government to swing into action and ensure our people return safely,” according to him.
Peter bemoaned that this was the third time somebody in his family had been kidnapped, and that it had financially ruined the family.
Peter said:
“We have nowhere to raise money for any ransom. The whole community is traumatised by this sad situation. Our last hope lies in the security agencies and the government.”
Mansir Hassan, the Public Relations Officer of the Kaduna State Police, did not answer to multiple phone calls put across to him.
