The governor of Kano State, Abba Yusuf, whose dismissal by the electoral tribunal was affirmed by the Court of Appeal on Friday, has pledged to regain his mandate at the Supreme Court.
The appellate court in Abuja confirmed the tribunal’s decision to dismiss Yusuf and pronounced Nasiru Gawuna of the All Progressives Congress the winner of the March 18 election.
Yusuf in a Friday night broadcast, stated that he has asked his legal team to appeal the appellate court’s decision to the Supreme Court.
According to him:
“We have consulted all stakeholders and resolved and decided that our lawyers should challenge the Appeal Court kudgment at the Supreme Court.
“We believe and have the confidence that the Supreme Court will reclaim the mandate of the Kano people who voted for us.”
He advised people to continue with their legitimate activities, noting that security officers have been tasked to maintain law and order throughout the state.
