Police have confirmed the arrest of one suspect in connection with the kidnapping of five female students from Katsina State’s Federal University Dutsin-Ma, or FUDMA, by alleged terrorists.
According to reports, the victims’ home on Tsaskiya Road, beside Mariamoh Ajiri Memorial International School, was the scene of their kidnapping.
An eyewitness report stated that the students were kidnapped yesterday morning at around 2:30 a.m.
According to the eyewitness:
“The terrorists invaded the students’ residential quarters which is located behind Mariamoh Ajiri International School in the early hours of today, resulting in the hoodlums abducting five female students of the University.”
When reached by phone, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, the police spokesman, also verified the occurrence.
He stated that one suspect had been detained in connection with the event and that more people were being questioned in an effort to free the victims of the kidnapping from the thugs’ grasp.
“Yes, it is true, the incident has taken place but we have already arrested one suspect for now in connection with the incident and we are investigating the incident to unravel the circumstances surrounding it please,” Aliyu said.
