Former Labour Party presidential aspirant and convener of the Rescue Movement for a New Nigeria, Faduri Oluwadare Joseph, popularly known as Fadojoe, has declared that the party’s 2027 presidential ticket will not be handed out casually.
Instead, it will be contested through a transparent and competitive process aimed at reinforcing the party’s credibility.
In a statement titled “2027: The Battle for Nigeria’s Soul Begins,” Fadojoe acknowledged the internal challenges currently facing the Labour Party but emphasised that efforts are ongoing to rebuild and reposition it as a formidable political force.
According to him, the party may seem disorganised at the moment, but by 2027 it will be ready to compete seriously for power at the national level.
He stressed that the Labour Party would provide Nigerians with a genuine alternative to the two dominant parties, which he described as having failed the nation repeatedly.
Fadojoe made it clear that the days of backroom deals and automatic ticket allocations are over. Instead, presidential hopefuls must go through a fair and credible process to earn the party’s mandate.
Commenting on the wave of defections from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), he remarked that such moves would not significantly alter the political landscape. “Each of those defectors carries only one vote,” he said, suggesting that mass defections do not necessarily translate to mass support.
Fadojoe concluded by urging Labour Party members and Nigerians at large to focus on building a movement rooted in integrity, merit, and grassroots engagement. The goal, he noted, is not merely to participate in the 2027 election but to win it and bring meaningful change to the country.
