The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 39 suspects linked to various heinous crimes and rescued 11 kidnapping victims during multiple operations carried out in the past two weeks.
The announcement was made on Monday during the Command’s bi-weekly media briefing, where the spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, spoke on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Moshood Jimoh.
According to Hundeyin, the suspects were apprehended for crimes including murder, kidnapping, armed robbery, rape, child theft, vandalism, operation of an illegal baby factory, unlawful possession of firearms, and drug offences.
The police recovered 10 firearms, 49 live rounds of ammunition, a vehicle, two motorcycles, vandalized streetlight poles, telecommunication cables, two mobile phones, and various illicit substances during the operations.
One of the most alarming incidents was the dismantling of a baby factory in the Afurugbin area of Ijegun on April 5. Acting on credible intelligence, police arrested three suspects—Mariam Vincent (35), Orie Ruth (23), and Ujunwa Ifeanyi (18)—and rescued nine victims, including six women and three children, held in captivity.
In another incident, a man was arrested in the Afromedia area of Ojo for allegedly murdering his daughter and burying her in a shallow grave within his compound on April 3.
The Nigerian police urged residents to stay alert and report suspicious activities, reaffirming their commitment to maintaining security across the state.
