Lagos State has the worst road traffic congestion among all cities of the world, according to the Global Traffic Congestion Rankings 2023 by Traffic Index.
Second on the list was Tehran, the capital and biggest city of Iran, followed by Riga, the capital and largest city of Latvia. Krakow, Poland, Mumbai, India, and Mexico City, Mexico, came in fourth, fifth, and sixth place, respectively.
The only African cities on the list were Cairo, Egypt, which came in at number nine, and Casablanca, the capital and business hub of Morocco, which came in at ranked 48th.
Traffic congestion is common in underdeveloped nations because of, among other things, bad road conditions and a lack of connection.
