Job Description
As a Legal Strategist at Sycamore, you will be responsible for providing legal guidance to the company and its employees, identifying legal issues, and ensuring legal compliance across the company’s operations.
Responsibilities
- Give accurate and timely counsel to executives in a variety of legal topics (labor law, partnerships, international ventures, corporate finance etc.)
- Collaborate with management to devise efficient defense strategies
- Specify internal governance policies and regularly monitor compliance
- Research and evaluate different risk factors regarding business decisions and operations
- Apply effective risk management techniques and offer proactive advice on possible legal issues
- Communicate and negotiate with external parties (regulators, external counsel, public authority etc.), creating relations of trust
- Draft and solidify agreements, contracts and other legal documents to ensure the company’s full legal rights
- Deal with complex matters with multiple stakeholders and forces
- Provide clarification on legal language or specifications to everyone in the organization
- Conduct your work with integrity and responsibility
- Maintain current knowledge of alterations in legislation
Qualifications
- A law degree (Bachelor of Law) from an accredited institution is required, must be a member of the Nigerian Bar Association
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role
- Excellent knowledge of corporate laws and regulations, including but not limited to, contract, employment, and intellectual property law, and extensive knowledge of legal precedents, statutory mandates and guidelines, and case laws.
- Ability to interact effectively with senior management and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while ensuring strict adherence to deadlines
- Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to take ownership of issues and manage them through to resolution
- Experience in financial services, corporate governance, compliance, and regulatory matters will be an added advantage
