It has been revealed that Jose Mourinho rejected an approach to discuss a possible return to Chelsea in favour of staying with Roma in Serie A.
The latest edition of Corriere dello Sport reported that a Chelsea representative recently approached the Portuguese to add Mourinho’s name to the Blues’ casting list for their managerial vacancy.
The Italian newspaper claims that Mourinho refused to respond to this inquiry as he is prioritizing the final year of his contract with the Giallorossi.
Mourinho’s contract with Roma ends in 2024, and rumours have linked the former Chelsea boss to PSG, the Brazil national team, and Al Nassr.
The special one had two spells as Chelsea’s manager. The first from 2004 to 2007 and the second from 2013 to 2015. He won three league titles, one FA Cup, and three League Cups.
Without other choices, Chelsea is close to finalizing a deal with former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino.
The Blues have lost 11 of their 26 Premier League matches since Thomas Tuchel departed.
They return to action on Tuesday against Arsenal at the Emirates in the Premier League.
