The Nigerian Navy Ship Pathfinder said that in the previous 16 months, its officers caught around 150 suspected oil thieves and recovered approximately 100 boats in various sections of Rivers State.

Commodore Suleman Ibrahim, the outgoing Commander of the NNS Pathfinder, said this while answering questions from reporters immediately after a send-forth march in his honour in Port Harcourt on Monday.

According to Ibrahim:

“We arrested hundreds of large wooden boats. We also arrested over 150 persons for illegal oil bunkering.

“The arrest we made is quite huge and the arrested suspects were handed over to the relevant agencies for prosecutions.

“We have taken some arrested suspects to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.”

Ibrahim congratulated the commanders and leaders of sister security services for the base’s synergy, which he claimed was responsible for Rivers State’s relative stability.
