The Nigerian Army has reported significant successes in a series of coordinated counter-terrorism and security operations conducted across multiple states.
According to official sources, these operations resulted in the neutralisation of 23 terrorists, the rescue of 26 individuals held captive, and the arrest of 14 suspects involved in various criminal activities.
A major offensive was launched on September 6 in Katsina State by troops of the 17 Brigade, in conjunction with the Defence Special Operations Force and the Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA.
The operation targeted Pauwa village in the Kankara Local Government Area. A fierce firefight ensued on Pauwa Hill, supported by artillery and airstrikes. During this engagement, the 23 terrorists were neutralised.
The troops successfully rescued 12 women and 11 children who had been held in captivity. Additionally, they recovered and destroyed several items used by the terrorists, including motorcycles, spare parts, food supplies, and other logistical materials.
In separate operations, the army achieved further results. In Borno State, four family members associated with ISWAP/JAS terrorists surrendered to troops in Gwoza. Meanwhile, a suspected terrorist logistics supplier was apprehended in the Kukawa Local Government Area with cash and other items.
In Adamawa State, a raid on a criminal hideout in Muva village led to the arrest of five suspects involved in theft and drug peddling, who were subsequently transferred to the police.
Within the Federal Capital Territory, troops arrested three suspects connected to phone snatching crimes in the Dei-Dei, Dakwa, and Zuba areas, recovering stolen mobile phones and a smartwatch.
The sources reiterated the Nigerian Army’s unwavering commitment to its mandate of securing the nation. These operations are part of a broader effort to create a safe and stable environment conducive to agriculture and other socio-economic activities, directly supporting the Federal Government’s food security agenda.
