Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, says that Nigerians would vote out the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in the same way that the New Patriotic Party, NPP, was ousted in Ghana’s recent elections.
On Monday evening, Ghana’s electoral body pronounced Mahama the victor of the presidential election held on Saturday.
Mahama beat Mahamudu Bawumia, the incumbent vice-president of Ghana and the candidate of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Previously president from 2012 to 2017, Mahama received 6.3 million votes, accounting for 56.5 percent of the ballots cast.
According to a statement released by the PDP, Debo Ologunagba, the victory of John Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) was a blatant example of the people’s power triumphing over oppressive policies and misrule, as is currently the case in Nigeria under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Many Nigerians, according to Ologunagba, are now impoverished as a result of the APC government’s economic policies.
He said:
“The verdict of the people of Ghana in this presidential election is a signal to the APC that its days in office are numbered, as the power of the people in Nigeria, just like in Ghana, will surely prevail, end the APC’s oppressive rule, and return Nigeria to the path of good governance, security, political stability, and economic prosperity on the platform of the PDP in 2027.
“Also unacceptable to Nigerians is that our once-thriving nation, which ranked as a preferred destination for international foreign investment capital and one of the world’s fastest-growing economies under the PDP, has been brought to its knees by the APC with decayed infrastructure, a comatose economy, worsening insecurity, and social uncertainties occasioned by ill-conceived and ill-implemented macroeconomic policies.
“More distressing is that while Nigerians are subjected to harrowing hardship, APC leaders remain unconcerned and unaccountable, imposing harsh taxes and recklessly looting the nation’s treasury to finance their luxury appetites and consumption while arrogantly treating Nigerians as though they are a conquered people.”
