NiMet, the Nigerian Meteorological Agency has predicted foggy and gloomy weather across the country from Monday to Wednesday.

According to NiMet’s weather forecast announced on Sunday in Abuja, the North and North Central areas of the country would suffer dust haze with visibility ranging from 1km to 5km.

The agency forecasted that visibility will be limited to less than 1,000m during the forecast period.

During the predicted period, it is expected to be cloudy with patches of clouds across the country’s southern area.

Then, on Tuesday, NiMet added that the North and North Central portions of the nation are predicted to suffer dust haze with visibility ranging from 1km to 5km with localized visibility of less than 1,000m during the forecast period.

Coastal areas in the South are likely to have patches of fog or mist in the early morning.

Nevertheless, the coastal and interior regions should have bright skies with a few cloud patches later in the day.

On Wednesday, NiMet predicts that the northern area will experience dust haze with decent visibility during the forecast period.

It is anticipated that throughout the forecast period, the North Central area will experience dust haze with moderate visibility of 1 to 5 kilometres.

According to the agency, there will likely be early morning mist or fog patches across the southern area, with few clouds and a foggy climate over the interior states.

Later in the day, it also forecasted a slight chance of thunderstorms across portions of Akwa Ibom, Lagos, Bayelsa, and Cross River.

As dust particles are in suspense, NiMet called on the public to exercise caution and warn those who suffer from asthma and other respiratory problems to be mindful of the current meteorological conditions.

Furthermore, NiMet recommended that airline operators obtain weather information (flight paperwork) relevant to their airports from them in order to prepare efficiently.
