The National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Osun State Coordinator, Agbor Ndoma Obim, has stated that 14 scheme members who absconded shall repeat the service as stipulated in the NYSC Act and Bye-laws. Obim also disclosed that the NYSC Board prolonged the service year of 19 corps members due to their lax attitude throughout their service year.
Obim stated this on Thursday at a low-key handing out ceremony for NYSC 2022 Batch B Stream 2 members deployed to the state for the mandatory one-year national service.
The Osun NYSC chief revealed that 2184 corps members had been effectively disengaged from the service.
According to him, “A total of 2184 were successfully disengaged and 19 Corps Members were sanctioned by the Board due to the lackadaisical attitude portrayed during their service year which attracted an extension of service.
“14 members who absconded were billed to repeat the service as prescribed in the Act and Bye-laws of the Scheme.”
He praised the corps members for remaining fearless, humble, and unshakable from the start of the service year till the joyous moment.
He stated, “I enjoin the Corps Members to put to good use the training received while navigating through the four phases of the service year.
“I charge you to embrace hard work and industry leveraging on the various skills acquired during in-camp and post camp skills acquisition and entrepreneurship development classes”.
The State Coordinator urged members to treasure the friendships and connection relationships. Created throughout the service year and to continue to be their brothers’ keepers once they enter the greater community.
He tasked them with avoiding all sorts of corruption and social vices that only harm the nation and the culprit.
He urged the Corps Members to remain excellent ambassadors for the country, their families, and the Scheme.
