Oyo: Makinde presents explosion report to Tinubu

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde on Monday, said that he has submitted to President Bola Tinubu the report on the explosion that occurred last Tuesday at Dejo Oyelese Close, Adeyi Avenue, Bodija, Ibadan.

This was as the Federal Government delegates led by Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, to the explosion site for an on-the-spot examination.

Five people were killed, 77 people were wounded, and around 58 residences were destroyed in the explosion that shook Adeyi Avenue at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

The explosion that shook Adeyi Avenue last Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. resulted in five fatalities, 77 injuries, and about 58 dwellings being destroyed.

Following the disaster, the President had already expressed his condolences to the Oyo State government and people. He also instructed the National Emergency Management Agency to collaborate with the state government in order to provide the victims with comprehensive and urgent aid.

During the visit, Alake expressed how shocked he was by the extent of the destruction and the tragic deaths, emphasising that the catastrophe was preventable and tragic.

“I am here to convey Mr. President’s deepest sympathies to you and to assure you that the administration stands shoulder to shoulder with you in your efforts to get back to your normal lives and attain full recovery. Rest assured that succour that will ameliorate the impact of the tragic incident is underway.

“Let me assure the people of Oyo State that there will be full disclosure of the report of investigations and those found culpable will be made to face justice whilst mechanisms will be put in place to prevent a recurrence,” the minister added.

The head of the state briefed the minister on the rescue operations of the state government.

In a statement made in Ibadan by his Special Advisor on Media, Sulaimon Olanrenwaju, Makinde stated that he had spent the weekend in the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja to provide the President with the incident report.

The statement said:
