Lagos, the state of the candidate of the ruling party, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has the highest amount of votes of any state in the federation. It boasts of about seven million voters. Many believe that the hoodlums attacking the Labour party supporters are thugs of the ruling party APC.
The State’s APC Body has denied involvement in the attacks. The spokesperson of the APC, Seye Oladejo, in a chat with Daily Trust said the allegations that the APC was responsible for the attacks were not substantiated. He subsequently urged security agencies to do their job and prosecute those found wanting.
Peter Obi’s rally went on as planned, however. The supporters despite the attack have been seen parading the streets in support of their candidate.
