Former Big Brother Naija housemate Queen Mercy Atang has weighed in on a viral video featuring a woman who discovered that the young girl her husband brought home was his biological daughter.
Taking to social media, the reality star addressed men, single mothers, and the woman in the video with heartfelt advice.
Queen began by admonishing men for dishonesty in relationships, pointing out the devastating impact of lies on families. “Stop lying. You’re breaking lives,” she said, emphasizing the harm caused by deceit, especially when it affects innocent children.
Speaking to single mothers, Queen encouraged them to work hard to provide for their children, reminding them that no one can love their child more than they do. She highlighted the subtle difference in the woman’s tone when speaking to her biological child versus her stepdaughter, calling it a testament to a mother’s inherent protective instinct.
To every single mother out there, hustle hard—harder if you must—to care for your child. No woman will ever love your child more than you do,” Queen stated.
Queen empathized with the woman’s hurt but urged her to show compassion to the stepdaughter, who was born before the marriage and is not the enemy. She called on the woman to apologize to the young girl for the emotional harm caused.
You’re angry, I get that. But when you’ve had a moment to calm down, please apologize to that little girl. Whether you realize it or not, she’s deeply hurt, and yes, she’s also your child.”
Queen also advised the biological mother of the child, if still alive, to take responsibility for her daughter and face life’s struggles with resilience, stating,
Even if it’s just garri, chop it with your child.”
