Ahmed Audi, the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, has deployed 40,000 personnel in preparation for the Eid-el-Kabir celebration. Civil Defence Corps Spokesperson Olusola Odumosu stated this in a statement signed on Tuesday.
According to the statement, Audi instructed all formation chiefs to leave no stone unturned in guaranteeing the country’s effective security coverage.
He asked students to be more vigilant and sensitive to their surroundings, especially during this festive season.
Audi issued a warning to personnel and directed them to “be on top of your(their) game, be very vigilant and highly sensitive to your environment because we are not going to take chances.
“Be proactive and make sure you engage intelligent driven strategies.
“This will help to get credible information about intended plans of criminal elements, so we can crush them before they strike.”
The Corps commander instructed widespread deployment to every nook and cranny of the country to man key spots such as places of worship, recreation centres, marketplaces, retail malls, motor parks, and all important infrastructure and national asset locations in various states.
He warned all Zonal Commanders to efficiently coordinate the units under their command to prevent any breach of peace.
“All Special Forces of the Corps must be fully engaged during the Sallah celebration to guarantee the safety of lives of our people.
“I will hold Zonal Commanders responsible and State Commandants accountable for any breach of peace in any state during the Eid-el Kabir celebration and beyond,” Audi added.
He urged all Nigerians to use the holiday season to pray for peace, unity, and the new administration’s success in attaining prosperity, progress, and renewed hope for the people.
