On Sunday, members of the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) and the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) called off their seven-day warning strike.
The body instructed members to return to work on Monday in a circular sent to branch chairmen at public institutions.
“The tempo of the warning strike has been massive, comprehensive and total in most of our universities and inter-universities centres,” according to a circular issued by SSANU President Mohammed Ibrahim, evaluating the seven-day warning strike.
SSANU and NASU expressed their admiration for the members’ commitment, perseverance, and allegiance to the union’s fight for the payment of salaries that were withheld for four months.
The circular read:
“Consequently, you are hereby informed that the seven-day warning strike shall end at midnight of Sunday, 24th March 2024 and normal work will resume on Monday, 25th March 2024.”
