The Supreme Court has dismissed Tonye Cole’s appeal as the All Progressives Congress candidate for governor of Rivers State.
Cole petitioned the Supreme Court to remove Siminalayi Fubara as Governor of the State.
He said med that the election was plagued by irregularities and that Fubara did not relinquish his former job as required by law before the election.
Both the tribunal and the Court of Appeal rejected his claim for lack of merit.
Justice Ibrahim Saulawa on Thursday, reading the lead judgment, rejected Cole’s appeal.
In a unanimous verdict, the five-man panel determined that the appellant failed to show his charges of Electoral Act violations during the election.
