Keeping it in good shape involves a fair bit of knowledge and experience, as well as some DIY tips. However, there are ways you can use to maintain smooth and clear skin effectively & efficiently. Keep reading to discover how!

What is the skin type?

The skin type is the dividing point between skin that gets its moisture from the air & skin that is made up of oil-producing cells. Depending on your skin type, it can look a little bit different from one individual to the next. It is believed that human skin can be divided into 2 distinct types: dry skin type and oily skin type. The dry skin type is characterised by watery, clogged pores; people with this type of skin will often find themselves with black, blue or even green marks on their skin. Oily skin has a porous, humid and bright appearance. It is caused by excessive fat production by sebaceous glands and is usually determined by genetic and/or hormonal causes.

There are several examples of each type of skin. The main difference between the two types of skin is in the amount of moisture they are made up of. Maintaining clear skin starts with figuring out your skin type.

Moisturise regularly.

Having regular hydration levels is crucial to keeping your skin healthy. Moisturising your skin is like moisturising your mind, body & nervous system. It helps to prevent and manage ageing. Preventing wrinkles and fine lines is important, as well as maintaining a good-looking skin complexion. Daily moisture levels can help to prevent eczema and skin pigmentation. It also brightens up your complexion, making your skin look smooth.

Avoid UV rays.

UV rays are harmful to the skin, as well as the surrounding environment. It is the same type of ray that cause ageing and skin damage. It can cause dead skin cells to form macerates, which further react with the air to form static electricity. There are a few things you can do to protect your skin from UVA rays. Stay inside when weather conditions are suitable to do so. Make sure to never wear loose clothing when you are outside as well as take defensive actions such as using sunscreen. Using sunscreen protects your skin pores from the rays keeping the clear and free of dirt.

Exfoliate often.

As we age, our skin cells lose their collagen, which means they are less able to absorb water. This is why our skin gets dry & rough. Exfoliating often, as well as several times a week, can help to promote collagen production. Also, it is important to avoid washing your face with unclean water, as this can damage your skin. Washing your face with unclean water can contaminate it with germs and dirt which is counter-productive.

Do a facial every 2 weeks.

Facial treatments are a good idea if you want to get a head start on keeping your skin looking good. It is known to be a good addition to anti-ageing treatments. Facial treatments also help to relax your mind, which in turn helps to keep your skin hydrated & vibrant. It can also be used to recondition the inside of your mouth for food. The treatments clear out your pores so you have clear skin.

Maintaining a healthy skin complexion is important, as well as important for long-term health. Moisturising your skin regularly helps to keep it smooth, and free of wrinkles and acne.

It’s also important to wear sunscreen when you’re outside, as UV rays can damage your skin. It’s also important to use a good moisturiser when you’re outside, as well as wear gloves when you’re inside.
