President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Mr. Bassirou Diomaye Faye on his victory as President of the Republic of Senegal.
President Tinubu, in a statement issued by his spokesman, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, stated that President-elect Faye brings great promise and a spotless record, and wished him success as he embarks on the vital task of leading the good people of Senegal.
The President also commended His Excellency, President Macky Sall, on managing an election that was universally seen as calm and transparent.
He said that the outcome of Senegal’s presidential election and Liberia’s general election, which both went well a few months ago, confirmed his long-held belief that democracy is deeply ingrained in West Africa and will only become stronger when it is nourished by justice, fairness, and good governance.
As ECOWAS’s chairman, the president confirmed that the sub-regional organization’s attempts to advance peace and constitutional order and fortify member state ties will be strengthened by the smooth conduct of the Senegalese election.
President Tinubu congratulated the Senegalese people and assured them of Nigeria’s best wishes and assistance.
