Premier League champions, Manchester City, beat Bayern Munich at home in the quarter-final of the champions league. Pep Guardiola’s side took the lead in sensational fashion as Rodri’s 25-yard stunner broke the deadlock at a tense Etihad Stadium in the first half.
Bayern improved after the break and it was a nervy opening 15 minutes to the second half for City fans, who have seen their side let many a lead slip at the Etihad Stadium on Europe’s biggest stage.
Bernardo Silva’s header from Haaland’s cross doubled City’s advantage before the Norwegian volleyed in a third goal to break more records as he scored his 45th goal of the season, the most by a premier league player in a single campaign.
City’s victory over the six-time European champions – and manager Pep Guardiola’s former club – sent out a strong statement as they look to win the coveted continental prize for the first time.
