Wike labels Rotimi Amaechi as highly corrupt

In a candid appearance on Channels Television’s *Politics Today* on Friday, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike launched a scathing attack against former Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi, branding him as “one of the most corrupt people.”

The outspoken politician did not mince words as he addressed longstanding tensions between the two political heavyweights.

When pressed about his own stance on corruption, Wike drew a sharp distinction between personal wealth and corrupt practices.

“No court has ever found me guilty of corruption,” he asserted. “I like money—everybody needs money. Does needing money to pay school fees or take care of my family make me corrupt? No.”

Wike further mocked Amaechi’s public claims of financial disinterest, calling him a “big liar” for stating he does not care about money. “How can someone say they don’t like money when they need it to solve problems?”

Wike questioned. He also took a swipe at Amaechi’s background, contrasting it with his own family’s modest but stable standing in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.

The remarks add fuel to the long-running feud between the two politicians, who have frequently clashed over political and personal matters.

While Wike framed his comments as a defence of transparency, critics may view the exchange as another chapter in their bitter rivalry rather than a substantive debate on governance.
