The Nigerian Resident Doctors Association (NARD) has declared a five-day warning strike after the federal government failed to meet its demands. The five-day strike will begin on Wednesday, May 17, and end on Monday, May 22.
Doctors explained the measures were taken at an extraordinary meeting of the National Executive Council (NEC), which took place virtually on Monday.
On April 29, 2023, the association issued a two-week request to the federal government that it would take industrial action if it did not comply with the agreement, and the proposal ended on Saturday, May 13, 2023.
Breakdown;
Doctors are demanding an immediate 200% increment in the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure, the salary structure of the doctors.
The Resident doctors also demand the review of CONMESS as contained in its letter written on July 7, 2022, to the Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire.
The Resident doctors demand the immediate payment of the 2023 Medical Residency Training Fund (MRTF) in line with the agreements reached at the stakeholders` meeting convened by the Federal Ministry of Health.
They are also demanding the commencement of payment of all salary arrears owed to its members, including 2014, 2015, and 2016 salary arrears, as well as areas of the consequential adjustment of the minimum wage.
