The Association of Campus Journalists, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), has announced the 2025 edition of its annual International Campus Journalism Conference (ICJC 2025).
The theme of the conference for this year is “Media for Development: The Media and a Tool for Innovative Drive and Socio-Political Economic Transformation.”
The 2025 edition of the conference intends to explore the use of the Media to bring about Social, Political, and economic development and transformation within a state.
ICJC 2025 will feature Mr. Femi Adesina OON as the keynote speaker. Femi Adesina served as the Special Adviser for Media and Publicity during the administration of the Former President of the Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari.
The conference will also feature two panel sessions, and six media professionals will serve as panellists during the occasion. These media professionals will share their thoughts, opinions and experiences on media and socio-economic development.
The themes of the two panel sessions are: “Beyond The Headline: The Role of Media in Promoting Sustainable Development and Holding Leaders Accountable”, and “The Power of Storytelling: How Media can Shape Public Perception and Drive Development Outcomes.”
The panelists include Daniel Ojukwu, a senior investigative reporter in the Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ); Abimbola Abatta, also an Investigative Reporter in FIJ; Anthony Dimnwaka, a lead media consultant at OAP 99.3; Osarennoma Saba, a producer and presenter at Dominion Broadcast Group; Alao Abiodun, a Journalist at The Nations Newspaper; and Afouda Samuel, a presenter, producer and the CEO of Primus Media City.
The presence of these media professionals promises the conference to be informative, inspiring and educational. They will equip OAU campus journalists with essential tools for innovation and the resources needed for socio-political and economic transformation.
The conference will be held on Saturday, 3rd of May, at BOO C Lecture Theatre at the Faculty of Science. Interested participants can register through bit.ly/ICJC2025 to secure their participation at the event
