Mr. Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, inaugurated the Presidential Transition Council on Tuesday in Abuja, He described it as a demonstration of the administration’s key commitment to strengthening key governance institutions. Institutions that would support the democratic process. The transition committee has the mandate to facilitate a seamless handover of power from the Buhari regime to a new one. This committee had been previously talked about here with President Buhari discussing it.
President Muhammadu Buhari had on February 7 signed Executive Order No. 14 of 2023 on the Facilitation and Management of Presidential Transitions which provides the legal framework for a seamless transition of power from one administration to another.
Mr. Boss Mustapha advised the next administration to study the regime of the President, Muhammadu Buhari, and learn from it. The SGF noted that the current regime had learned lessons that would be useful for the incoming administration. He enjoined members of the committee to put in more effort in ensuring the next administration receives every support needed to make an early and quick start.

“Today marks another historic moment for our administration, as we yet again demonstrate our commitment to strengthening key governance institutions that support our democratic process. We are also to facilitate communication between the outgoing president and the president-elect; prepare the programme and organise for the swearing-in ceremony; carry out any other activity necessary to ensure optimal performance of the functions of the president under the Constitution and perform any other function assigned to it under the 1999 Constitution as amended.”
