Divine intervention blocked Adeleke’s defection to our party — APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has claimed that Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke made attempts to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, but was prevented from doing so by what they described as divine intervention.

The party alleged that Adeleke’s plan to join them was blocked by “God’s hand,” which they believe averted a political move not meant to happen.

Governor Adeleke, however, swiftly denied the allegation through his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, who described the claim as a fabrication and an act of desperation by the APC.

He reiterated that the governor remains a loyal member of the PDP and has no intention of switching parties.

The PDP in Osun State also dismissed the APC’s claim, calling it a baseless distraction aimed at misleading the public.

The party’s Caretaker Chairman, Dr. Adekunle Akindele, said the allegation was a “cheap lie” intended to weaken public trust in the governor and his administration.

Akindele added that Adeleke is focused on governance and fulfilling his promises to the people of Osun, not on political manoeuvring.

Political observers have suggested the APC’s statements could be part of a strategy to stir controversy ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

Despite the claims, Governor Adeleke’s support within the PDP and among Osun residents appears strong, with no indication of an impending defection.
