Job Description
The Programs Director will work directly with the Centre Director and other senior leaders to define the museum’s strategies for programming, engagement and learning. This involves developing and delivering programs/ initiatives and working with staff and volunteers to actualize the museum’s vision and objectives. The Programs Director will have primary day-to-day responsibility for integrating the work of the Education, Curatorial, and Exhibition Management teams of the Museum.
Responsibilities
- Strategic planning- working with the centre director and the board of trustees to develop short- and long-term strategic plans for actualizing the museum’s vision, mission and objectives.
- Keeping the board updated with regular status reports and ensuring their participation across several areas, leveraging on their relationships, contacts and expertise.
- Ensuring stewardship of past, current and prospective donors through personal visits, articulate correspondence, timely gift acknowledgements, and strategic administration of naming opportunities.
- Creating, sourcing and capturing compatible content to run promotions and campaigns- beautiful photos and video clips, writing great features, quotes, hashtags, headlines, posters, adverts, et cetera, to engage and inform stakeholders.
Qualifications
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in museum studies, history, educational leadership, business administration or related discipline.
- Ten years’ experience working with cultural institutions, specifically museums and interpretative centres.
- Strong project management skills.
- Knowledge of funding strategies
- Knowledge of current traditional and digital marketing channels, technologies, and tools
